Maria (Gruszecki) Galik

Maria Galik (nee Gruszecka), age 94, passed away on Saturday December 4, 2021, at the Spring Grove Rehabilitation, New Providence, NJ.

Born on a farm in Wojciechówka, Poland, to Franciszek and Katarzyna, she resided in New Providence for the past 33 years. Maria loved to knit. If you met her even once, you’d probably leave with a pair of thick hand-knit slippers. Chatty and cheerful, Maria appreciated good food and a good joke. She was a generous, selfless, humble woman who never let her past difficulties affect her positive outlook, and she loved being surrounded by her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maria’s excellent memory served her well, and she was quick to remind everyone about upcoming birthdays and anniversaries. She was often on the phone, reconnecting with loved ones in Poland and telling stories of the past.

Maria is survived by one daughter, Rozalia Kielich, and her husband, John; one son, Mieczysław Galik, and his wife, Irena; and one brother Zbyszek Gruszecki and his wife Zosia. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Andrew Kielich and his wife, Annemarie Conte; Thomas Kielich and his wife, Mindy; Magdalena Galik; Michael Kielich; and Dagmara Galik and her husband, Zbigniew Puzio; as well as four great-grandchildren: Lydia Kielich, Cecilia Kielich, Julia Puzio and Daniel Puzio.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Kazimierz Galik (1952).

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Friday December 10, 2021 from 3-6 pm at the Parkway Wozniak Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066. A Funeral Ceremony will begin on Saturday December 11, 2021 at 8:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am, from the St. Stanislaus R.C. Church, 146 Irvine Turner Blvd, Newark. Interment, Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
