Gloria J. Pierce, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday February
7, 2022, at the Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains.
Born in Scranton, PA, to John and Josephine Pierce, Ms. Pierce resided in Irvington for 70 years
and most recently Garwood. She began her career out of college working for the Chief Justice
of NJ, and then as an administrative secretary for close to 40 years at RCA in Harrison, NJ, and
most recently at Projects in Knowledge of Secaucus, NJ.
Ms. Pierce was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity/St. Joseph’s Polish National Church of
Linden. She was Superintendent of the School of Christian Living at St. Joseph’s; and a member
of the Business Professional Women’s (BPW) Foundation of Union County.
Ms. Pierce is survived by her sister Joann Downey and her husband Warren; two nephews, John
Downey and Kevin Downey and his wife Valeria; one niece, Christi Cheek and her husband Ray;
five great nieces and nephews, Caitlyn, Samantha and Jack Downey and Josephine and
Margaret Cheek.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Thursday February 10, 2022,
from 3-7 pm, at the Parkway Wozniak Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066. A
Funeral Service will be offered on Friday February 11, 2022 at 10 am at the funeral home.
Interment, Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
