Robert William McCourt - 79, died October 26, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife Helen Filipowicz McCourt of 56 years, cherished and beloved by his devoted family: Karen and Julie McCourt, two precious grandchildren Maximillian and Grace and son-in-law Wojciech Mrozek. He was the brother to James McCourt, and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He was born on December 29, 1938 in Kearny, NJ, and graduated from Kearny High School 1956. He was a graduate of Brown University, class of 1958 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MA in Labor Relations from Newark College of Engineering.
Mr. McCourt worked for PSE&G for 43 years in various management positions mainly planning the electrical infrastructure of Newark Liberty International Airport and the redevelopment of Liberty State Park and Ellis Island as well Electromagnetic Field Issues Management, Environment, Health and Safety concerns. Mr. McCourt was often invited to share his expertise of EMF throughout the United States. He was a community liaison and often provided expert advice on EMF issues to the general public and media. He was a proud member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Mr. McCourt enjoyed working with his wife Helen to raise funds for various International Catholic Organizations, churches, and schools. He loved working with this hands, whether it was wood working or gardening outside, there was always a project in the works. Robert McCourt was an avid reader, especially the books of Samuel Eliot Morison on World War II. He loved spending time with his two grandchildren, in a variety of ways and as often as possible.
