Wiktoria Gwozdz

Wiktoria Gwozdz, 73, passed away Saturday (December 31, 2016) at Haven Hospice at JFK in Edison with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Chabowka, Poland, she came to the United States when she was 17 and lived in Irvington before moving to Edison.

Wiktoria was the owner of Viki’s Beauty Salon in Irvington for many years before retiring. She was a longtime member of the Rosary Altar Society at Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Irvington and served as the President for over 20 years. She was also honored to serve as the Marshall in the Pulaski Day Parade – representing the Irvington Contingency.

She enjoyed gardening and took pride in her beautiful flowers and plants.  She loved entertaining and was the best cook in the family (hosted Easter and Christmas every single year – no one has mastered her mushroom gravy yet!).  She traveled the World and the United States. A former teacher, she volunteered her time with her Church organizing events, fashion shows, and Church anniversary parties. She celebrated 50 years of marriage last year.

Surviving are her husband, Michal; her brother, Kazimierz Czyszczon and his wife, Felicia, of Linden, NJ and her sister, Hania Szewczyk of Edison. She is also survived by her nieces; Marie Steiger and her husband, Ellery of Monroe, NJ, Chris DeMarco and her husband, Mike of Great Falls, MT; her great-niece, Molly DeMarco, Alina Williams of Aberdeen, NJ; her great-niece, Madison Williams; and her nephew, Andrew Czyszczon of Linden, NJ.

The funeral will be from Parkway Wozniak Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark, on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 9 AM followed by a 10 AM funeral Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Irvington. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 PM to 8 PM at the funeral Home.
